A false police report set in motion the series of events that ended with half a dozen Fullerton officers tackling and beating an unarmed homeless man to death, according to a newly filed lawsuit.
Slidebar owner Jeremy Popoff, and his attorney Eric Dubin talk to the media during a news conference after an ex-bouncer claims in a lawsuit that a false report drew police to the transit center, where they confronted Kelly Thomas.
“We got a phone call saying either we agree to cough up money or this case was gonna be filed.”
“We immediately contacted the FBI district attorney and reported it as possible extortion.”
“Jeremy and the Slidebar had nothing to do with what happened to Mr Thomas.”
